Trained at the Central School of Art and Design in London, Barber developed a style rooted in meticulous realism yet deeply infused with the fantastical. His figures often appear suspended between worlds—part human, part spirit—embodying his lifelong exploration of metaphysics, dreams, and the unseen. This distinctive synthesis became known as the Barber School, a movement emphasizing discipline, imagination, and technical mastery, which shaped generations of Nigerian artists.
